Are you one of those people who thinks maths is pointless? Well maths is all around us! How long will it take you to go from Sydney to Queensland by car if traveling at a constant speed of 80km/h? You will need maths to answer this one! Maths can come in handy for shop keepers! For example, if the shop keeper wants to see how well his shop did this year, he would most likely use a line graph to represent it. Another way that we use maths in the world are through buildings. When building an apartment or house, we need maths to work out how tall the building is, how deep they have to dig into the land and also and an estimation of how long it will take to build it! If we didn’t take maths into consideration the building will collapse and unfortunately can kill many people. As you can see maths is necessary as it can prevent disasters.
